What is periscope and why twitter bought it?

Hi Guys! "live streaming" is the new buzzword in the internet lately, live streaming apps are exciting when watching a live concert for free, the feeling is kind of cool while experiencing the user interface of Periscope of Meerkat.

About Periscope

Periscope was founded in February 2014. Beykpour and  Joe Bernstein are the founders of Periscope.

Periscope is a mobile teleportation service similar to its competitor Meerkat. Periscope allow its users to live stream anthing from their smartphones, viewers can comment ask questions or like, the user interface is pretty awesome, aspecially with all the comments appering in the screen as you watch a live stream, I dont mind using the App for hours just simply asmiring the beauty of the App's design. Its only available in IOS devices at the moment.

Periscope's key features

Periscope's best features are hearts, its like avirtual round of applause to show apprecation to streamers. Notification fuction, which alerts user's whenever there is a scheduled streaming, its functions are believed to be fully based on twitter.

Why did twitter bought Periscope for 100 million?

Yes, Periscope was bought for 100 million dollar, it all happened due the huge traffic Markeet App created in twitter, twitter was quite important for Markeet to run its activities, it
is believed that twitter has shut all the integrations with Markeet. Then twitter bought Periscope, an  App was not even live when twitter splashed that kind of money, it looks like twitter saw the urgency in getting into the live streaming trend to clinch market shares.

You might be wondering, that these live streaming Apps could be useless or flop, as i do personally think that the App is pureply based on user's influence as they have the freedom to do anything with it, these Apps reputations depends on how the users use them.

"Instead of Youtube, where a viewing experience was passive, Periscope was active, Viewers could comment , ask questions, and heart broadcasts in real time" said Beypour, co-founder of Periscope.

Meerkat's chrome extension for non iOS users

About Meerkat's Chrome extension

Hi guys! wanna check out Meerkat? but no iOS device? no worries, check out the new Meerkat's chrome extension(unofficial).

The web App interface is very simple unlike the original App found in Appstore,  you can comment, retweet and like. There are no issues with the portrait view in the unofficial web App Meerkat plus, the web extension does not have much functionality, if you are bored with the current stream click, on the "Random Meerkat" and watch another one, it only allows users to view streams but can't host streams via the Meerkat plus chrome extension. Its a good opportunity for non iOS users to experience. Have fun!

What is meerkat and why is it so famous?

Hey Guys! wondering what is this App meerkat all about and why is it getting popular at the moment? I was also very eager to to find out more when i first heard about it from my friends. Without further delay, allow me to share some information that I know about the App...

About Meerkat App

Launched on 24th February 2015, created by Ben Rubin.

Meerkat is a new app that lets you stream share a live video using your smartphone. You would need a twitter account to login to use the App, you can live stream whatever you want, a live concert that you are attending, live stream a sports game , I had a very funny first time experience , i was trying to figure out how it actually works , logged into my twitter account,  streamed a live video,  and moments later, i was shocked to see 46 random viewers viewing my live stream! Hahahha... i was fun though :) . Looks like a fun App to me.

Meerkat's User Interface

Its user interface is very attractive and lively, for instance, your followers who are watching your live stream , can instantly interact with you with just a single touch, they can show their interest or appreciation to you by sending heart logo . The user interface is so beautifully designed that it shows anyone who is watching a live stream with their twitter profile pictures, basically there are two main features , start a stream now, or schedule one for later. This makes the App's motive straight forward and simple.

Meerkat's new updates

recommended followers list:

Users will see a list of recommended people to follow based on their social graph - example. followers on other social media sites - and the search functionality has also been improved.

Initially in meerkat, to find followers one had to use the Leaderboard where the top Meerkats users are ranked by a points system which rewards you for posting and sharing live streams.

Subscribe to scheduled streams:

Initially users had problem finding "live" stream videos, but now its impossible , users can simply subscribe to scheduled stream. You may tweet your scheduled live streams to your followers in advance. Comments are also no longer automatically tweeted out to your followers. With this new release, you now have the option to toggle that function on or off. Lastly, they've made it even easier to kick off a scheduled live stream. When you schedule a stream ahead of time and it's time to go live, just press Stream Now  -  and you're live.

Why is Meerkat so famous?

During the recent South by Southwest festival in Texas, Meerkat was one of the most talked about topic, perhaps, alot of people live streamed the event from Meerkat which has made the App viral. Meerkat's viral growing users base has gotten giant social media service twitter's attention, infact twitter has shut Meerkat's integration with twitter. Meerkat so famous to the fact that is has made twitter to buy over a live streaming company! celebrities such as Jimmy Fallon, Tony Hawk and Julia Louis-Dreyfus have embraced Meerkat too!
